KappAhl Distribution Centre Gothenburg 2001

The task of introducing a building of 35 000m2 into an area of old private housing, industrial buildings and nature called for a special architectural strategy. A design of a cast concrete weatherboarding was developed. In this way the gigantic scale of the building could be handled as a monochrome and single textured form. The aim was to create a good workplace were light and visual contacts with the surrounding were stressed. Long cut through the building is giving the huge building an additional unexpected expression.
