KappAhl Concept Store
Gothenburg 2001
Following the atmosphere set at the KappAhl Head Office in Mölndal (by TEA 2000), the intention for the new KappAhl Concept Store was to create a warm shopping environment. With qualitative materials and low key but sophisticated colours one could match with the man and woman clothing as well as the colours of seasons. As highlights and contrasts a few elements are specially articulated, such as the counter with its bright orange colour, the dressing rooms with its spacious and homelike character as well as the so-called “irrational element”. The irrational element – the Beauty Zone – is a secluded and romantic area for underwear defined and separated from the rest of the store by a drapery of hanging pearls. As a spine through the store, a low catwalk for active exposition, guides and attracts the visitor into the shop, as well as organises the different parts into clearly distinguishable areas.
