Areas of Expertise
Communicative architecture
|
Architects have always functioned as creative catalysts. The client’s requirements, the possibilities presented by the building and the demands of society have to be coordinated into a valuable, long-term investment. For TEA, it goes without saying that people are central to the process. It is our mission that the sum of the parts forms a clear whole, expressing the client’s identity, vision and activity. |
We believe in open dialogue. Trust is something that has to be earned and we aim to identify the unique conditions and possibilities in every project. Some of our clients come to us with clear intentions, ready to be expressed in a new project; others choose us to strengthen their identity. Long-term partnerships with international brands have convinced us of the value of a strongly created identity. |
Extensive expertise and constant development are the natural consequences of the way we work. We are curious and generous, and develop together with our clients. Our areas of expertise are springboards for each other and the synergies are many. |
Architecture
|
|
We create rational and effective architecture with individuality and character by exploiting the possibilities of the materials. We believe in adding distinctive elements to create interest, focus and shape. Attraction and function in symbiosis. Our architecture is characterised by a contemporary look, created with sustainable, beautiful materials, executed in close dialogue with our customers. With extensive experience in all scales of the building, we work on creating a whole; everything from master plans to kitchen handles. In Skanstull in Stockholm, we have designed a large sports hall, incorporated into a complex urban context, which is both sporty and discrete. For Mackmyra Svensk Whisky, we have designed Sweden’s first whisky distillery, which expresses both playfulness and its industrial content in steel and concrete. |
Interior Design
|
We have extensive experience of and a high level of expertise in complex change processes for major commercial clients. We are good listeners and rapidly convert dialogue with the client into sketches and creations designed to embody the specific character of the client whilst engaging ourselves in the internal anchoring. It is important for there to be a strong idea and an established strategy behind the project, from which the overall design is drawn, and which forms the basis of the interior design of the client’s premises. A large network of talented manufacturers, contractors and other partners allows us to engage in major undertakings. |

Design

From the very beginning, Thomas supplemented his architectural training by working with design. One of Thomas’ objects, the Red Cross cabinet for Cappellini, is the only Swedish product featured in the design collection at MoMA in New York. With his participation in IKEA PS in the 90s, Thomas helped to revolutionise IKEA’s relationship to design. This collaboration with IKEA has continued through the years and TEA still has products in IKEA’s PS range. In cooperation with Asplund, Gärsnäs and Edsbyn, specially designed furniture for different projects has been developed into products. TEA also has its own products represented at leading furniture manufacturers. |
Retail
|
Our sales expertise has been built up over the course of longstanding, intensive partnerships with the major Nordic retail chains. We are experienced in looking at the trade environment on the basis of the products themselves and what is being offered. We have developed retail concepts for companies such as Hästens, Stadium, Cubus, WeSC and Oscar Jacobson. Our strength is the integration between architecture and product, and the interplay between customers and employees. We know how to create environments that make for commercial success. We have worked with SDL on several major projects to create concepts whereby everything from shop facades and display cases to unique typefaces and logos expresses the same identity. |
